The combination of design, a handmade feel and Japanese food… it doesn’t get much better than that.
Completed for Professor Hettinga’s “Designer As Author” course, the assignment for this project was to create a Zine, a small circulation self-published work, on any topic. I chose to feature Masa, a local Japanese restaurant. I designed its title, “Save the Dated” as a play on words and as a series focusing on rustic buildings (like Masa) that possess a special charm. The first edition is text-based, black and white with added “sticky note” punches of color, and saddle stitched. The companion edition features associated full-color images and is lovingly hand-bound.
