Printmaking is one of my favorite art forms. I enjoy both the creative process and the look of the finished product. After sketching a design idea and breaking it into three components (one per block), I was able to skim my carving tool over the smooth surface of the linoleum. Each piece gently fell away, slowly forming the sunken relief needed for printing. When the designs were sufficiently carved, one of the three primary colors of ink was evenly coated over the surface of each block. A press was then used to firmly transfer the ink onto paper. With each print I could manipulate the order of the colored blocks to create variations in color. The richness of the finished print begs to be gently explored with fingertips.
